Job description

Overview:

The Shale and Tight (S&T) business is responsible for Chevron-operated assets across a diverse global portfolio, including Argentina, Texas, New Mexico, Colorado and North Dakota assets.

The S&T IT Team serves as the bridge between business priorities and Chevron's enterprise technology capabilities. The team ensures that digital solutions, data products, AI capabilities, cybersecurity initiatives, operational technologies, and enterprise applications are effectively deployed and adopted across S&T assets to improve business outcomes. Within the team, Business Analysts play a critical role translating business needs into actionable solutions, partnering with both business stakeholders and enterprise technology teams to deliver measurable value. This role provides analytical and project management support across the full lifecycle of initiatives (work intake, development, deployment/testing, support) including workflow and process definition while ensuring successful execution within S&T assets.

The S&T Business Analyst serves as a partner to asset and functional stakeholders, helping identify opportunities, define and document business requirements, develop business cases, support prioritization decisions, coordinate solution delivery, and drive adoption of digital capabilities.

The Business Analyst will support initiatives throughout the entire lifecycle, from opportunity identification and work intake through requirements definition, solution design, deployment, adoption, and value realization. The role will actively engage enterprise delivery teams and asset stakeholders to ensure enterprise capabilities are fit-for-purpose.

The successful candidate will operate across multiple business domains, geographies and time zones, serving as a connector between asset teams, business leaders, digital program managers, enterprise product teams, IT delivery teams, and external partners.

Successful candidates must demonstrate comfort working in ambiguous situations, balancing strategic and tactical work, and delivering high-quality outcomes under compressed timelines. The role requires flexibility, adaptability, sound judgment, and a strong bias toward action while maintaining alignment with business objectives and enterprise standards.

Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:
  • Business Partnership - Develop strong relationships with stakeholders across S&T assets and functions. Understand business priorities, operational challenges, and strategic objectives. Identify opportunities to improve performance through scaling enterprise digital solutions, automation, AI, analytics, workflow optimization, and process redesign.
  • Requirements and Solution Development - Lead discovery sessions, workshops, interviews, and process reviews. Document current-state and future-state business processes. Define business requirements, user stories, success measures, and acceptance criteria. Evaluate solution alternatives and support business case development. Ensure business requirements are clearly communicated to delivery teams.
  • Initiative and Project Support - Support work intake, demand management, prioritization, and portfolio planning activities. Coordinate execution across business stakeholders, enterprise product teams, and technology delivery organizations. Track risks, dependencies, actions, and decisions. Support testing, deployment planning, training, and change management activities.
  • Value Realization and Adoption - Drive stakeholder engagement throughout implementation. Support user adoption and operational integration of delivered solutions. Measure business outcomes and value realization. Identify continuous improvement opportunities following solution deployment.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration - Partner with business stakeholders, Program Managers, Asset IT Leads, Architects, Cyber Advisors, Data & Insights teams, and enterprise delivery organizations. Ensure solutions align with enterprise standards while supporting S&T specific business needs. Facilitate communication across geographically dispersed assets and stakeholders.
  • Execution and Agility - Respond quickly to evolving business needs and emerging priorities across S&T assets and functions. Support rapid-turnaround analyses, leadership requests, business planning activities, and strategic initiatives. Effectively manage multiple concurrent priorities while maintaining focus on business outcomes. Adapt plans and approaches as requirements evolve, ensuring alignment and clear stakeholder communication. Demonstrate a strong sense of ownership and urgency to advance work, remove obstacles, and drive timely decision-making.
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Information Technology, Engineering, Computer Science, or a related discipline, or equivalent experience.
  • 10+ years of demonstrated experience in business analysis, project coordination, process improvement, digital enablement, technology delivery, or a related role.
  • Experience leveraging data, analytics, automation, AI, or digital technologies to improve business outcomes.
  • Proven ability to gather and document business requirements, business processes mapping and analysis, and translate stakeholder needs into actionable solutions.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills, with the ability to evaluate alternatives and recommend practical solutions.
  • Strong written, verbal, and presentation communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities, adapt to changing business requirements, and deliver results in a dynamic environment.
  • Ability to work with a strong sense of urgency and maintain high-quality outcomes under compressed timelines.
  • Demonstrated commitment to collaboration, teamwork, and building effective working relationships
  • Demonstrated Oil & Gas business acumen
Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with workflow design, value stream analysis, or continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Experience supporting project delivery, change management, user adoption, testing, or deployment activities.
