Job summary

Job description

We are currently looking for an experienced Business Analyst to join a major international energy trading environment in Houston.

You will join a global team of Business Analysts dedicated to Power & Natural Gas trading activities, working on large-scale trading system expansion programs involving over 100 IT specialists across Business Analysis, Development, and QA.

In this role, you will support Front-to-Back trading activities around Power trading systems and ETRM platforms, while collaborating closely with Traders, Risk, Operations, Middle Office, Back Office, Accounting, Credit, and IT teams.

This position combines business analysis, application support, system enhancement, integration projects, and close interaction with business users in a fast-paced and high-pressure trading environment.

• Support Power trading activities across the full Front-to-Back lifecycle
• Deliver enhancements, upgrades, integrations, and new functionalities within ETRM/CTRM platforms
• Gather business requirements across international teams and departments
• Run workshops with both Business and IT stakeholders
• Configure and model new Power trading activities within OATI applications
• Work closely with developers and vendors on integrations, APIs, testing, and deployment support
• Enhance surrounding systems including exchanges, pricing engines, and market integrations
• Write and maintain functional specifications and technical documentation
• Participate in UAT phases, testing activities, and bug prioritization
• Provide 2nd level application support to worldwide users
• Train 1st level support teams and ensure smooth handovers
• Contribute to backlog prioritization and reporting activities
• Ensure high-quality customer service and stakeholder management in a global environment

The Profile We Are Looking For

• Minimum 5 years of experience as a Business Analyst, Application Support Analyst, or similar role within ETRM/CTRM environments
• Strong experience supporting trading activities within Power markets
• Good understanding of North American Power products and derivatives
• Hands-on experience with ETRM/CTRM platforms
• Experience with OATI applications, especially webTrader, is a strong plus
• Strong SQL skills and understanding of database design and reporting
• Experience working with APIs, FIX protocol, and market data feeds (ICE, CME, NODAL...)
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work in fast-paced and high-pressure trading environments
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
• Service-oriented mindset with strong customer focus
• Knowledge of Power Query and VBA
• Familiarity with pricing/modelling tools
• Experience with software development lifecycle methodologies
• ITIL, Project Management, or technical certifications
