We are currently seeking a Business Analyst (Appian) for a full-time position remotely, supporting the Department of Labor (DoL).

We are an organization that is committed to your growth and success in the IT software development industry and looking for a Business Analyst (Appian) who is ready to assume leadership responsibilities in a supportive team environment that is focused on your success as a function of client success.

What your day-to-day will look like / Duties:

  • Review user stories in backlog; gain solid understanding of the changes needed.
  • Collaborate with Product Owners to understand user stories and updates needed.
  • Document acceptance criteria for user stories and bug tickets.
  • Help Developers understand the user stories and acceptance criteria, lead discussion of new functionality.
  • Test user stories and ensure that testing is appropriately documented, with evidence recorded.
  • Serve as scrum master/ lead daily scrums.
  • Develop agenda for backlog grooming session; get concurrence with Product Owners.
  • Lead backlog grooming sessions with Product Owners.
  • Lead demo day and introduce stories to the Product Owners
  • Train stakeholders on new functionality
  • Document business processes and changes

What we would like to see on your resume/ Required Skills

  • Provide detailed, comprehensive, testable, and traceable process components in several formats including but not limited to Business Requirements, Functional Requirements, Data Requirements, System Software Specifications and Use Cases.
  • Provide business process and system analysis, design, improvement, and implementation support.
  • Translate business process needs into technical requirements, provide change management and training support.
  • The ability to communicate organizational and strategic planning for both technical and functional environments.
  • Five (5) years of current experience (including educational) in business process and system analysis, design, improvement, and implementation efforts, change management and training support.
  • It is desired that this person has UI/UX experience of software applications.
  • Experience in Agile and JIRA is required.
  • Scrum master certification is nice to have.
  • Any Testing related certification is a plus.

Education: Bachelor’s degree in a technical field such as software engineering, information systems, computer science, business, etc.

Salary Range: There are various factors that are considered in determining finalpayfor a position, including, but not limited to, relevant work experience, skills, education, certifications, and competencies that align with the specified role, as well as contract provisions regarding labor categories that are specific to the position. The pay range for this position is: $100,000-$120,000.

Location: Horizon is headquartered in the heart of Tyson’s Corner; VA. Occasional travel may be required.
