Job Summary
The Business Analyst is a key quantitative contributor of the Product Strategy team, helping to answering the questions that matter most through data analysis: why we win some deals and lose others, which accounts are at risk and why, what it actually costs to serve a customer, and whether we're tracking to our OKRs. This is an outbound-facing analytical role. The analyst lives in data, models, and leader-ready narratives — not in backlog grooming, story writing, or sprint ceremonies. Candidates seeking a traditional product owner track will find this a poor fit;
those who want to own the numbers that shape what the product team builds and prices will find it an excellent one.
Key Responsibilities
Commercial & Competitive Analytics
- Maintain core commercial metrics: win/loss rates, renewal and churn, net and gross revenue retention, expansion and downgrade activity.
- Quantify competitive displacement — share of lost business attributable to specific named competitors, by segment, product, and deal size — and track how those patterns shift.
- Move beyond description into explanation: form hypotheses about why patterns exist, test them, and draft causal analyses that separate correlation from causation and state assumptions explicitly.
- Unit Economics & Cost Modeling
- Analyze cloud infrastructure spend by product and workload — storage, compute, search/indexing, data transfer —and translate it into cost-to-serve per customer, per matter, and per unit of data under management.
- Build and maintain gross margin models by product line, tier, and cohort; project margin forward under different growth, pricing, and utilization assumptions.
- Develop cost sensitivity and scenario models showing how margin responds to changes in usage, infrastructure pricing, storage tiering, discounting, and product mix.
KPI / OKR Reporting
- Own several Power BI dashboards used by senior product leaders.
- Maintain a documented metric dictionary so a number means the same thing in every meeting.
- Produce recurring monthly and quarterly reporting with commentary that explains movement.
- Supply the analytical foundation for market and segment sizing, competitive positioning, launch performance, and pricing and packaging decisions.
- Provide and validate the data behind battlecards, competitive claims, and ROI/TCO justifications.
- Source and reconcile data across CRM, product analytics, billing, and cloud cost tooling.
Preferred Experience
- 2–5 years at a Big Four or comparable advisory firm — at the Consultant, Senior Consultant, Associate, or SeniorAssociate level. A top-tier strategy firm is equally welcome.
- Practice background in Strategy & Transactions, Commercial Due Diligence, Valuation & Modeling, Business Transformation, Forensic & Integrity Services, or Data & Analytics.
- Demonstrated ability to build a model from a blank workbook — cohort, unit economics, or scenario/sensitivity — and defend the assumptions when an executive pushes back.
- Exposure to SaaS metrics (ARR, NRR/GRR, CAC payback, gross margin, Rule of 40) and to cloud cost management or FinOps concepts (cost allocation, storage tiering, tagging, showback/chargeback).
- Legal technology or eDiscovery experience is a meaningful plus.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as Business, Economics, Finance, Mathematics, Financial Markets, Statistics,
- Computer Science, Information Technology, Legal Studies, or a related discipline.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to structure and interpret data from multiple imperfect sources.
- Advanced Excel is required — complex modeling, Power Query, pivot architecture, etc.
- Working proficiency with Power BI (or Tableau/Looker), including data modeling.
- Not required but a plus--Familiarity with SQL, R, or Python sufficient to pull and manipulate data independently.
- Experience with AI-assisted analysis tools such as Claude for research synthesis, drafting, model prototyping.
- Basic understanding of the software development lifecycle and product development. Understanding of eDiscovery processes or legal technology is a plus.
- Familiarity with Salesforce, Gong, Pendo, or HubSpot is a plus. Deep experience with Jira, Azure DevOps, or ProductBoard is helpful but not required.
- Excellent written and verbal communication, with the ability to compress a complex analysis into a clear recommendation — and the attention to detail to ensure the numbers hold up.
- Ability to work with team across the isle from Product - Finance, Sales, Customer Success, and Engineering - while managing multiple concurrent workstreams.
