This role serves as a critical liaison between our insurance business units and technology teams, translating business needs into clear, actionable requirements that support system design, configuration, development, testing, and implementation.

The Business Analyst will work closely with underwriting, claims, policy administration, distribution, product, technology, and executive stakeholders to understand business needs, evaluate processes, define requirements, and ensure technology solutions align with business objectives.

The ideal candidate will be able to effectively bridge business and technology teams, with the ability to understand business objectives, operational processes, and technical considerations. This individual will translate business needs into clear, actionable requirements while also helping business stakeholders understand technical constraints, dependencies, and solution options.

The successful candidate will use strong analytical judgment to clarify ambiguous requests, identify the underlying business need, and ensure proposed solutions address the appropriate problem. This position works closely with Project Managers and Development Managers throughout the project lifecycle and maintains strong alignment with Business Unit leadership.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Elicit, analyze, document, validate, and manage business, functional, and technical requirements for insurance systems, applications, and process improvement initiatives.
  • Translate business requirements into detailed functional and technical documentation, including business requirements documents, functional specifications, user stories, acceptance criteria, process flows, wireframes, data mappings, and use/test cases.
  • Analyze business processes and workflows to identify gaps, inefficiencies, risks, and opportunities for operational or system improvements.
  • Partner with Project Managers to define project scope, requirements, timelines, dependencies, deliverables, and potential risks.
  • Collaborate with Development Managers, developers, engineers, and QA resources throughout the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) to clarify requirements, evaluate proposed solutions, and resolve requirement-related questions.
  • Participate in sprint planning, backlog refinement, design reviews, testing activities, and User Acceptance Testing (UAT).
  • Serve as a liaison between Business Unit leadership and technology teams to ensure business priorities, operational requirements, and constraints are accurately represented in technical solutions.
  • Develop and maintain business process documentation, workflow diagrams, requirements traceability matrices, system specifications, and other project documentation.
  • Define acceptance criteria and support test planning and execution to confirm delivered functionality meets documented business requirements.
  • Analyze data and system behavior to investigate issues, validate requirements, and support business decision-making.
  • Manage changes to requirements throughout the project lifecycle and communicate the impact of changes to appropriate stakeholders.
  • Present requirements, recommendations, findings, project updates, and solution considerations to both technical and non-technical audiences, including leadership.
Job Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Information Systems, Insurance/Risk Management, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and professional experience.
  • 3–5 years of Business Analyst experience with direct experience supporting Commercial Property & Casualty insurance products, operations, or technology.
  • Working knowledge of P&C insurance functions and systems, including one or more of the following: policy administration, underwriting, rating, claims, billing, product, or distribution.
