Job summary

Frandsen Bank & Trust seeks a Business Banker to join the Dundas team. You will support a dynamic lending group by prospecting and developing new client relationships, managing existing accounts, and using consultative approaches to identify cross-selling opportunities within our broad suite of financial services.

The ideal candidate will have 3–5 years in banking, with strong credit analysis skills and experience in underwriting, financial statement review, and relationship management.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, finance or related field or equivalent banking experience.

Responsibilities

  • Develops and manages business relationships with local clients to market commercial lending and related services.
  • Analyzes loan requests and financial statements to assess cash flow and repayment ability.
  • Interviews applicants to determine creditworthiness and presents loan decisions and alternatives.
  • Monitors existing loans to minimize loss while documenting exceptions.
  • Supports CRA/compliance objectives and collaborates with loan review.
  • Collaborates with Treasury, Wealth, and Investment teams to cross-sell services.
  • Participates in community service activities as assigned.

Position Summary

Frandsen Bank & Trust is seeking a Business Banker for our Dundas location. This position is responsible for supporting a dynamic lending team for prospecting and developing new client relationships, managing existing client relationships, and use consultative interactions with clients and prospects to identify cross-selling opportunities with our wide range of financial services. The ideal candidate will also be willing to support community efforts.

Job Duties
  • Actively develops new and existing business relationships through key contacts within the local community to market the bank's services with emphasis on commercial lending and other areas as designated.
  • Analyzes individual loan and financial documents to determine customers' cash flow, ability to pay the loan, profit potential of the loan.
  • Meet and interview applicants to determine creditworthiness, deny or grant each loan, secure required signatures, explain procedures or reasons for denial and present possible alternatives to those denied to maintain a favorable bank image.
  • Monitor and collect past due loans in a manner which will minimize the bank's loan losses while providing flexibility to customers and documentation of exceptions.
  • Monitor the existing loan portfolio through annual credit reviews, financial statements, receivable agings and on-site visits in order to provide recommendations for granting or renegotiating loans in a manner that minimizes loan losses.
  • Helps ensure that all legal, compliance and CRA requirements are met by cooperating with Loan Review and compliance audits.
  • Works closely with other areas of the bank to sell ancillary products to commercial clients. This includes, but is not limited to, Treasury Management, Wealth Management, Frandsen Investment Services, and Retail Banking.
  • Actively participates in community service organizations, as assigned.
Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, finance or related field or equivalent years in banking industry experience.
  • 3-5 years experience, preferably in a financial institution.
Required Skills
  • Must have strong credit analysis and underwriting skills.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret financial and supporting statements.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportion, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
  • Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Ability to analyze financial statements and tax returns of businesses and individuals and draw conclusions on the creditworthiness of the applicant.
  • Experience with Microsoft's Windows Office Suite.
  • Knowledge of all bank products and services.
Preferred Skills
  • Familiarity with SBA programs.
