Job summary

California State University, Fullerton is seeking a Business Advisor (Student Services Professional I-Range B) to provide academic advising and support to undergraduate students within the College of Business and Economics. The role reports to the Director of the Business Advising Center and operates under general supervision.

The position is temporary through June 30, 2027, with potential annual renewal based on funding and program needs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or the equivalent from an accredited four-year college or university in one of the behavioral sciences, public administration, business administration, or a job-related field plus one year of experience in professional Student Services work at the entry trainee level.
• Preferred: currently enrolled in or completed a master’s degree; experience advising an undergraduate student population; knowledge of advisement office practices.
• Background check required and CSU policy on employment; conditional offer may be rescinded if information is not satisfactory.

Responsibilities

• Advising undergraduate students on degree requirements and course selection.
• Assist with transcript evaluations, academic policies, and procedures.
• Coordinate outreach and intervention strategies to support student success and retention.
• Manage advising appointments, emails, and front-desk coverage; process changes of major requests.

Education

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in behavioral sciences / public administration / business administration or related field

Master’s degree preferred
