Job summary

Georgia Department of Public Health is seeking a Busi Support Analyst 1 to perform reviews and statistical analysis of Vital Records data, promote data quality, support internal operations, and provide timely data to Vital Records constituents, Georgia Department of Public Health, and other state and federal agencies.

The role requires a bachelor’s degree in business or related field and one year of experience; standard office hours with onsite work and a telework option per policy.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor vital records data to ensure accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of records.

  • Ensure required vital events are properly recorded within databases.
  • Provide vital records data and reports to federal, state, and local partners.
  • Support internal process measures with data analysis for quality improvement.
  • Communicate findings with stakeholders and investigate data quality concerns.
  • Create written reports summarizing analysis, findings, and recommendations.

Job Summary

This position is responsible for performing reviews and statistical analysis of Vital Records data to promote and ensure data quality, support internal Vital Records operations, and provide accurate and timely data to Vital Records constituents, Georgia Department of Public Health, and other state and federal agencies.

Job Duties and Responsibilities
  • Monitor vital records data to ensure the accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of records in accordance with Georgia laws and regulations, and national standards.
  • Analyze vital records data to detect potential data quality problems, then follow up with internal and external partners as necessary to address them.
  • Ensure all required vital events are properly recorded within the appropriate vital records databases.
  • Provide vital records data and reports to federal, state, and local partners.
  • Support vital records operating units with data analysis on internal process measures to monitor performance.
  • Communicate findings with internal and external stakeholders; work with stakeholders to investigate data quality concerns and address them when necessary.
  • Provide data analysis support for ongoing quality improvement projects.
  • Create written reports to summarize analysis, findings, and recommendations.
Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in business or related field from an accredited college or university and one year of experience related to the area of assignment.

Note: an equivalent combination of education and job specific experience that provided the knowledge, experience and competencies required to successfully perform the job at the level listed may be substituted on a year-over-year basis.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in business, public health, statistics, or related field
  • Advanced knowledge of data analysis software and tools
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience of querying data from Microsoft SQL server
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience of developing tableau dashboards
  • Knowledge of quality improvement techniques and demonstrated experience participating in quality improvement projects
Other Information

Standard office hours are 08:00 AM - 5:00 PM. Flexible scheduling is available per DPH policy. Position requires work onsite, with option to telework part of the week as per DPH policy.

The DPH Commissioner and agency leaders encourage all employees to engage in regular wellness activities and to make lifestyle choices that promote health and well-being. The use of physical activity breaks during the workday is authorized to support this philosophy and help employees meet their wellness goals. A maximum of 30 minutes of physical activity may be allocated per workday, typically in the form of two 15-minute breaks or one 30-minute break.
