Job summary

Brookhaven School District in Brookhaven, Mississippi is seeking a Bus Monitor/Aide to assist the bus driver and help ensure safe transportation for students. Responsibilities include supervising student conduct, aiding students getting on/off the bus, maintaining orderly behavior, and reporting any violations to the Transportation Director.

Requires a high school diploma and reliable transportation. Position is Full-Time.

Qualifications

• High school diploma is required.
• Experience with children is preferred.
• Must have transportation to and from the bus stop.
• Other qualifications as determined by the School Board.

Responsibilities

• Meets all professional conduct standards as set by MS Educator Code of Ethics Standards of Conduct.
• Assists the bus driver in maintaining good student conduct on the bus.
• Assists young or disabled students in getting on and off the bus.
• Assures that students get on and off the bus in an orderly fashion.
• Provides written records of violations of the student code to the transportation supervisor.
• Collects and turns over to the Director of Transportation those personal items left on the bus by students.
• Ensures the safety and good behavior on the bus of an individual student, if assigned to supervise.
• Follow all board policies and procedures.
• Maintain regular attendance and is punctual.
• Promote the district’s vision, mission, and goals.
• Perform any other duties as outlined by the Director of Transportation.
