Job summary

City of La Crosse is seeking full-time Bus Operators to join the Municipal Transit Utility. The position requires excellent human relations and communication skills to serve a diverse public, valid driver's license, and the ability to obtain a CDL Class B with airbrakes and passenger endorsement within 14 days.

Shifts include evenings, weekends, and holidays with reporting within 30 minutes of notification.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent.
Valid WI driver's license required.
Must possess CDL permit upon hire, and obtain CDL Class B with passenger endorsement within 14 days on the job.
Must maintain a good driving record.
Knowledge of traffic laws and defensive driving techniques.

Responsibilities

Operates transit vehicles on established routes according to set time schedules.
Provides public information to passengers concerning routes, schedules, transfer points, and how to use the transit system.
Receives fares and records money and tokens.
Reports mechanical defects to supervisor.
Assists elderly and handicapped passengers as needed.
Maintains a courteous and safe demeanor to provide optimal customer service.
