Join the Wichita Transit team! As a PART-TIME Bus Operator, you will positively impact our community by providing reliable and safe transportation. Work 15-17 hours per week, not exceeding 20 hours, with shifts between 4 AM and 1 AM, Monday through Saturday.

Our diverse riders appreciate friendly service, and we rely on dedicated Bus Operators to arrive fit for duty regardless of weather or traffic conditions. Enjoy scenic drives around the city and experience different seasons year-round.

Position Responsibilities

• Operate the bus safely and efficiently.
• Collect correct fares from passengers.
• Assist passengers with disabilities, including wheelchair restraints.
• Keep operational records as required.
• Provide excellent customer service.

Work Schedule

Monday-Saturday, 4:00 AM - 1:00 AM

Requirements of Work

• Proficient in English reading, speaking, and writing.
• Basic math skills.
• Ability to read maps and adhere to schedules.
• Effective communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment.
• Knowledge of Wichita's geography.
• Physical ability to operate the bus safely, including lifting up to 50 pounds, and working in various weather conditions.
• Valid driver's license and ability to obtain a CDL Kansas license within 90 days.

Experience and Training

• At least 2 years of customer service and 3 years of unrestricted driving experience.
• Valid Class A or B CDL with passenger and airbrake endorsements.
• Availability to work 15-20 hours weekly, Monday-Saturday, between 4 AM and 12 PM.
• Legal authorization to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.

Preferred Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
