Job summary

AC Transit is seeking courteous and dependable individuals to safely operate buses and deliver high-quality service to our customers. No prior Bus Operator experience is required, with a comprehensive paid training program for selected candidates.

Under supervision, operators transport passengers on fixed routes, perform inspections, manage farebox operations, and assist passengers, including those needing special assistance. This is a union position with excellent benefits in California.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED or equivalent.
• Previous bus operator experience is not required but helpful.
• Strong interpersonal and customer service skills.

Responsibilities

• Operates District vehicles to transport passengers along a fixed route safely and courteously.
• Performs customer service activities; assists passengers with directions and information.
• Conducts pre-trip inspections and reports safety concerns or malfunctions.
• Collects fares and ensures accurate fare handling for all rider categories.
• Completes accident/incident reports and other required forms legibly.
• Communicates with OCC regarding emergencies, traffic, and unusual events.
