Job summary

San Joaquin Regional Transit District is seeking a Bus Operator who will safely operate district buses, collect fares, assist passengers, and maintain communication with dispatch on a scheduled route. Paid training will prepare you for a Class B license and endorsements.

No prior commercial driving experience is required, with a strong emphasis on safety, customer service, and reliable attendance. Union representation applies, and a robust benefits package is provided.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED.
• Must be at least 21 years old.
• Three years of continuous licensed vehicle driving.
• One year of customer service experience with the public.

Responsibilities

• Inspect bus safety, comfort, and cleanliness before each shift.
• Notify control center of damage or when relieving another operator.
• Ensure safe operation of safety items and report defects.
• Operate bus on schedule, collect fares, and assist passengers.
• Provide information and assist wheelchair passengers as needed.
• Maintain radio contact and attend to end-of-shift tasks.
