Position Summary

The Bus Operations Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of shuttle bus services throughout Denver International Airport. This position provides direct support to drivers, monitors daily operations, ensures compliance with company policies and airport regulations, maintains service standards, and delivers exceptional customer service.

The Supervisor serves as the primary field leader and is expected to maintain a strong operational presence throughout the service area. This role is responsible for ensuring safe transportation, operational efficiency, driver accountability, service reliability, and uninterrupted passenger movement.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Operations Management

• Monitor daily shuttle operations to ensure safe, efficient, and on-time service.
  


• Ensure adequate bus coverage across all assigned routes and passenger loading areas.
  


• Verify buses are properly fueled, inspected, and service-ready before deployment.
  


• Monitor passenger demand and adjust operations as necessary to maintain service levels.
  


• Ensure buses depart according to established schedules.
  


• Support operational continuity during delays, traffic congestion, weather events, and emergencies.
  


• Conduct routine patrols of operational areas, parking lots, terminals, and passenger loading zones.
  


• Ensure buses are positioned correctly and routes remain fully covered.
  


• Report operational concerns and service interruptions to management.
  

Driver Support and Accountability

• Provide daily operational guidance and support to drivers.
  


• Ensure drivers comply with company policies, airport regulations, safety procedures, and customer service standards.
  


• Verify drivers are in proper uniform and maintain required credentials, including driver's license, DOT medical card, airport badge, and company identification.
  


• Monitor attendance, professionalism, and operational performance.
  


• Ensure drivers maintain assigned schedules and follow designated routes.
  


• Report performance concerns, safety violations, and operational issues to management.
  


• Assist drivers with operational challenges and service-related concerns.
  


• Ensure drivers are operating safely, professionally, and in accordance with company expectations.
  

Safety and Compliance

• Promote and maintain a safety-first culture.
  


• Monitor driver behavior, including speed compliance and safe driving practices.
  


• Identify and report unsafe conditions, hazards, accidents, security concerns, and operational risks.
  


• Ensure proper passenger loading and unloading procedures are followed.
  


• Verify ADA requirements are met, including bus kneeling and ramp deployment when required.
  


• Ensure buses are properly secured whenever unattended.
  


• Respond promptly to safety incidents, accidents, and operational emergencies.
  


• Serve as the first on-scene company representative during accidents and incidents, ensuring the scene is managed safely, proper notifications are made, and company procedures are followed.
  


• Coordinate with emergency responders, airport personnel, law enforcement, management, and other stakeholders as required.
  


• Ensure all necessary accident and incident information is collected, documented, and reported in accordance with company policies, airport requirements, FMCSA regulations, and DOT standards.
  


• Ensure compliance with company policies, airport regulations, FMCSA requirements, DOT regulations, and established operating procedures.
  


• Monitor and manage radio communications throughout daily operations.
  


• Maintain clear, professional, and effective communication with drivers, dispatch personnel, airport partners, and management.
  


• Provide operational updates regarding delays, route changes, safety concerns, and service interruptions.
  


• Respond promptly to driver requests for assistance.
  


• Maintain communication discipline and minimize unnecessary radio traffic.
  


• Escalate significant operational concerns to management as needed

Communication and Dispatch Support

• Monitor and manage radio communications throughout daily operations.
  


• Maintain clear, professional, and effective communication with drivers, dispatch personnel, airport partners, and management.
  


• Provide operational updates regarding delays, route changes, safety concerns, and service interruptions.
  


• Respond promptly to driver requests for assistance.
  


• Maintain communication discipline and minimize unnecessary radio traffic.
  


• Escalate significant operational concerns to management as needed.

Break and Relief Management

• Coordinate driver break schedules while maintaining route coverage.
  


• Document and monitor all R&R breaks.
  


• Ensure drivers return from breaks on time.
  


• Verify buses are properly secured during driver breaks.
  


• Transport relief drivers when operationally required.
  


• Take over buses when necessary to maintain service continuity.
  


• Document delays or operational impacts resulting from break coverage.
