Job summary

Manor Independent School District is seeking a Bus Monitor to support the driver in transporting students with disabilities safely and calmly. You will assist with loading, supervising boarding and disembarking, and helping students follow rules while on the bus.

Responsibilities include supervising student behavior, communicating with teachers and parents, and ensuring safety procedures are followed. This is a full-time position with variable hours and emphasis on safety and care.

Qualifications

• Ability to work well with children with disabilities

• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
• Knowledge of student discipline procedure
• Ability to operate safety equipment and adaptive equipment

Responsibilities

• Lift and carry students with disabilities on and off the bus according to their individual needs.
• Supervise students as they board and leave bus and cross the street.
• Learn and adapt to each student’s special medical, physical, communicative, and emotional needs.
• Manage student behavior and report student discipline problems to appropriate administrators.
• Communicate with teachers and parents on a daily basis regarding student behavior while on the bus.
• Become familiar with and follow procedures established by transportation and special education offices.
• Help the driver keep the bus clean.
• Work irregular hours as needed.
