Job Title: Bus Maintenance Supervisor
Reports To: Director of Maintenance
Department: Maintenance - Administration
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Schedule, assign, and supervise vehicle maintenance to meet route schedule requirements during assigned work hours. Direct shop employees in electrical, electronic, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic maintenance and repair of the vehicle fleet and equipment.
- Assist workers in diagnosing malfunctions in machinery and equipment.
- Adjust mechanics' and other shop employees' work schedules to provide needed man-hours for each shift.
- Schedule, monitor, and ensure all job assignments are completed within reasonable time frames or industry standards. Monitor repairs and parts usage to control costs. Maintain an adequate supply of tools by reviewing shop needs and repairing or replacing tools as needed.
- Interpret company policies and union contracts to workers and enforce safety regulations.
- Coordinate road call problems to minimize bus schedule delays.
- Perform random inspections of completed repairs and maintenance work, assessing quality and completeness. Coordinate and schedule regular preventive maintenance on the fleet.
- Supervise and monitor the bus cleaning and washing program to enhance fleet image.
- Supervise and monitor the housekeeping program to minimize hazardous working conditions and maintain cleanliness. Perform other duties as assigned or required by management.
SUPERVISORY AND ADMINISTRATIVE RESPONSIBILITIES
- Maintain time and production records.
- Suggest changes in working conditions and equipment use to increase shop efficiency.
- Analyze and resolve work problems or assist workers in solving them.
- Initiate or suggest plans to motivate workers to achieve goals.

- Ability to coordinate road calls to minimize bus schedule delays.
- Ability to interpret company policies and union contracts to shop employees.
- Ability to enforce shop and vehicle safety practices and regulations.
- Effective communication skills, both written and oral, with employees, department heads, and officials.
- Ability to work effectively in a diverse workforce.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Valid Driver's License and ability to obtain a CDL Class A or B with Passenger Endorsement within 120 days of hire.
- Ability to perform moderate to heavy lifting, including walking, kneeling, bending, pushing, and pulling.
- Minimum 1 year supervisory experience in a diesel shop environment.
- Minimum 5 years recent paid bus or truck experience, including diesel engine repair and maintenance.
- Ability to work varying shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
Proficient experience with MS Office Suite, Internet, and Email.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION
All positions are safety-sensitive and require pre-employment drug testing, background checks, and clean driving records. Applicants must have no more than two moving violations in the past five years and no serious traffic violations (e.g., DWI, license suspension) in the past five years. Must be able to work flexible shifts.
