San Diego Charter Inc. is seeking a skilled Mechanic to join our family-owned bus operation in San Diego. You will diagnose and repair diesel buses, focusing on Ford/Cummings engines and Freightliner models, while maintaining shop records and ensuring safety.

Ideal candidates communicate clearly with the office, explain issues concisely, and contribute to continuous improvement. Salary depends on experience with potential raises based on performance.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Associate degree or completion of an automotive service technician training program preferred.
  • ASE or SAE certification preferred.
  • Strong customer service and communications skills required.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and repair vehicles coming into the shop
  • Carry out routine vehicle maintenance tasks such as 45 day inspections, oil changes, and brake pad replacements
  • Conduct in-depth vehicle inspections of all systems, including engine, transmission, and brakes
  • Create repair timelines and convey information to office for scheduling
  • Maintain accurate repair shop records and paperwork
  • Ensure a high level of safety
  • Create and maintain an inventory of stock parts.

Job Summary

We are looking for a skilled Mechanic to join our family owned and operated Bus Business. As a bus Mechanic, you will be diagnosing and repairing issues with vehicles’ performance and function. The majority of our fleet are Ford diesel buses with 6.7 Ford and Cummings motors and M2 Freightliners .You must have an in-depth understanding of all vehicle systems and components. You will also be responsible for maintaining repair shop equipment, keeping accurate records, and communicating with office.

The ideal candidate is skilled in communicating with office staff, able to explain vehicle issues clearly and concisely and provide valuable advice. Salary depends on experience and capabilities and room for raises based on performance.
