Job description

Join to apply for the Bus Drivers, School role at Alvin ISD.

Responsibilities include:

1. Checking the condition of vehicle tires, brakes, windshield wipers, lights, oil, fuel, water, and safety equipment to ensure proper functioning.
2. Complying with traffic regulations to operate vehicles safely and courteously.
3. Driving gasoline, diesel, or electric-powered multi-passenger vehicles to transport students between neighborhoods, schools, and activities.
4. Escorting small children across roads and highways.
5. Following safety rules during student boarding, exiting buses, and crossing streets near bus stops.

Primary Purpose: Responsible for the safe operation of school buses.

Qualifications:

• High School diploma, GED, or two years of previous school bus driving experience.
• Texas CDL (Class B) with Passenger and School Bus Endorsement.
• TEA driver certification.
• Acceptable driving record.
• Ability to read and understand English.
• DOT physical and drug screening.
• Pass District Physical Performance Test.
• Complete AISD Special Ed Training Course (for Special Ed Drivers).

Special Knowledge/Skills:

• Complete physical control and operation of school buses.
• Student management skills during bus operation.
• Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.

Experience: No previous experience required.
