Responsibilities include:
- Checking the condition of vehicle tires, brakes, windshield wipers, lights, oil, fuel, water, and safety equipment to ensure proper functioning.
- Complying with traffic regulations to operate vehicles safely and courteously.
- Driving gasoline, diesel, or electric-powered multi-passenger vehicles to transport students between neighborhoods, schools, and activities.
- Escorting small children across roads and highways.
- Following safety rules during student boarding, exiting buses, and crossing streets near bus stops.
Primary Purpose: Responsible for the safe operation of school buses.
Qualifications:
- High School diploma, GED, or two years of previous school bus driving experience.
- Texas CDL (Class B) with Passenger and School Bus Endorsement.
- TEA driver certification.
- Acceptable driving record.
- Ability to read and understand English.
- DOT physical and drug screening.
- Pass District Physical Performance Test.
- Complete AISD Special Ed Training Course (for Special Ed Drivers).
Special Knowledge/Skills:
- Complete physical control and operation of school buses.
- Student management skills during bus operation.
- Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
Experience: No previous experience required.
