APPLICATION FOR THE 2024-2025 School Year

Please complete this application to be considered for bus driver and bus aide positions. Both positions require a CDL License or qualification for one.

Bus Driver/Aide opportunities offer great flexibility for those seeking part-time work (approximately 4.5 hours/day) and include a full benefits package.

Requirements:

Before being hired as a substitute driver or aide, the following must be completed:

Training:

Selected applicants will receive training through Winchester Public Schools, which includes:

• Classroom Instruction - date to be determined.
• Behind-the-wheel instruction - following successful classroom completion.

Employment Requirements:

• Obtain a CDL Learner's Permit before classroom instruction begins. A permit with the following classifications and endorsements is required before behind-the-wheel training:
• Class B
• Air Brakes – if the vehicle is equipped with air brakes
• School Bus – S
• Passenger - P

Submit a current driving record showing:

• 0-5 safe driving points
• No DUI record within the past 5 years and no more than 2 moving violations within 1 year

Successful completion of criminal background check

Ability to pass the required school bus physical and pre-employment drug test

Ability to safely operate all buses in the WPS fleet

Pay:

During training, pay is $17.00/hour. After completing training, the starting pay is $23.00/hour. Experienced drivers may receive credit for prior school bus driving experience with verified documentation. The average work schedule is 4.5 hours per day, as needed.
