A local school district in Maryland is seeking candidates for the School Bus Driver Training Program. Applicants must be at least 21 years old with a good driving record and must pass several screenings. Job Requirements

Anyone wishing to apply to enter the FCPS School Bus Driver Training Program must:

• Be at least 21 years old
• Have a good driving record
• Pass a pre-hire drug screening
• Pass a criminal background and child abuse check
• Successfully complete a school bus driver’s physical exam which meets Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles and Department of Education requirements

Salary and Benefits

• Bus drivers and bus aides in training are paid $13.50/hour
• Contracted bus drivers earn $91.22-$153.99/day based on experience. An attendance bonus is also available.
• Contracted bus aides earn $75.15-$126.63/day based on experience. An attendance bonus is also available.
• Benefits for contracted bus drivers and bus aides include sick leave, personal leave, health insurance (including dental and vision), retirement benefits through the Virginia Retirement System and group life insurance.
• Bus drivers and bus aides may bring two of their children or grandchildren (up to age 5) to ride on the bus they drive. This helps eliminate the need for drivers to secure childcare in order to work.

• Call-in substitute bus aides earn $75.15/day
