Job summary

SAU#6 Public Schools is seeking a school bus driver to operate on assigned routes, ensuring timely pickups and drop-offs while maintaining student safety and discipline. The role requires strict adherence to CDL regulations, school policies, and ongoing training.

The position includes routine pre/post-trip inspections, timely reporting, and courteous communication with students and administrators. Training is provided for the SBC certification and state requirements.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• CDL A or B is required.
• NH school bus certificate (SBC) is required—training is provided.

Responsibilities

• Operate the school bus on assigned route, picking up and dropping off students at designated stops.
• Perform pre- and post-trip inspections as required by federal and state law including safety equipment checks.
• Maintain designated time schedules and ensure a safe ride for students.
• Follow all traffic laws and school district policies.
• Uphold student conduct and enforce rules on the bus.
• Provide written reports on undisciplined students per policy.
• Report accidents/incidents immediately and assist injured persons as needed.
• Participate in required training.
• Keep interior and exterior of the bus clean and compliant with standards.
• Maintain a positive and courteous attitude with students and administrators.
• Communicate clearly with students and school administrators.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Job description

• Operate the school bus over an assigned route, picking up and dropping off students at designated stops.
• Performs pre and post trip inspections as required by federal and state law including observing visual defects and that safety equipment is in working order,
• Maintain designated time schedules making every effort to be on time while ensuring a safe ride for students
• Ensure all traffic laws and local ordinances are followed as outlined in the CDL manual, School Bus Driver Handbook, and School Board Policy
• Upholds students discipline on the bus and implements rules for student conduct
• Provide written reports or undisciplined students in accordance with the bus driver handbook and school district policy
• Reporst all accidents/incidents immediately. Requesting emergency personnel services as needed; help injured persons until services arrive; and completes accident/incident written reports
• Participated in all required training
• Ensure the interior and exterior of the school bus is kept clean and all standards are met
• Maintain a positive and courteous attitude
• Communicates clearly and effectively with students and school administrators
• Perform other duties/tasks as assigned

Education, Certification, and Licensure

• High School Diploma or equivalent required
• Commercial Drivers License (CDL) A or B is required
• NH school bus cerificate (SBC) is required- training is provided.
