Position Summary

This is a semi-skilled part-time position at the Burton 4-H Center on Tybee Island operating buses. The work involves responsibility for the safe and efficient operation of vehicular equipment and usually involves some equipment maintenance duties and other semi-skilled work relating to the equipment and building maintenance activities. Employees will receive definite and detailed instructions from a supervisor at the time of appointment. The work is performed according to established procedures with frequent daily inspections.

Minimum Qualifications

Requires at least a high school diploma or equivalent. Please contact your Human Resources office for an evaluation of education/experience in lieu of the required minimum qualifications.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies

- Experience in the operation of bus or truck; or any equivalent combination of training and experience.

Physical Demands

Sitting for long periods of time and occasional light lifting in an indoor and outdoor environment.

Duties/Responsibilities

1. Drive bus with students to and from field study sights. Percentage of time: 80%
2. Some driving on occasion to local schools to pick-up or drop-off local day groups. Percentage of time: 10%
3. Cleaning of buses to include sweeping, washing windshield, dashboard. Percentage of time: 10%
