Job summary

ANTIOCH UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT in Antioch, CA is seeking a Bus Driver Trainee to learn the skills needed to safely operate a school bus on designated routes within established time schedules.

Under the supervision of the Director of Transportation, you will progress toward full certification and licensure, with the next training class anticipated to start in October 2026. Valid California driver’s license and required screenings are part of the program.

Qualifications

• No experience required for training this role within the school bus operations.
• Requires a valid California Driver's License and DMV record copy.
• Live Scan, pre-employment strength test, TB exam, and DMV/DOT medical exam are required.

• Learn to safely and effectively operate a school bus with designated routes.
• Receive instruction to progress toward full certification and licensure.

This position is distinguished from the Bus Driver classification such that the Trainee position will be learning the primary duties of and working towards full certification and licensure to become a qualified School Bus Driver.

Hourly Salary (Range 111) Step A: $19.44
