Job summary

Ambition Preparatory Charter School in Mississippi is seeking a Bus Driver for SY 2026-2027. You will transport students safely to and from school and events, follow routes, and help maintain a positive, orderly environment on the bus.

Applicants must hold a Mississippi driver license and CDL Class B with a school bus endorsement, pass annual physicals, background checks, and drug testing, and have a high school diploma or equivalent. Flexibility and professional conduct are required.

Qualifications

• Must possess a current Mississippi driver’s license and CDL Class B with a school bus endorsement.
• Must meet physical, hearing, and vision requirements as outlined by the Mississippi Department of Education.

Responsibilities

• Safe Transportation: Transport students to and from school, field trips, and events while following routes and schedules and ensuring safety on the bus.
• Student Management: Assist students getting on/off the bus and maintain a safe environment.
• Vehicle Maintenance: Perform pre/post trip inspections and report any mechanical issues.
• Professional Conduct: Obey traffic laws, attend safety trainings, and interact positively with students and parents.

We are a new college preparatory elementary and middle school serving the students of Jackson, MS.

Responsibilities and Duties

• _ Safe Transportation _
• • Transport students to and from school, field trips, sporting events, and other off-campus activities.
  • Follow a planned route and schedule, adhering to traffic laws and regulations.
  • Maintain a clean and mechanically sound bus.
  • Ensure the safety of all students while on the bus.
• _ Student Management _
• • Assist students with getting on and off the bus, including those with disabilities.
  • Verify permissions for students riding home with friends.
  • Maintain discipline and a safe environment on the bus.
• _ Vehicle Maintenance _
• • Perform inspections of the bus before and after each route.
  • Report any mechanical issues or concerns to the appropriate authorities.
• _ Professional Conduct _
• • Obey all traffic laws and regulations.
  • Attend safety meetings and training as required.
  • Maintain a professional demeanor and interact positively with students and parents

This job involves sitting for long periods as well as stooping, squatting, lifting, carrying, pushing and climbing. Able to work a flexible schedule. Must be able to travel, enter, and exit a vehicle without assistance and withstand exposure to adverse weather conditions. Random drug tests may be performed.

Qualifications

• Possess a current MS driver;‘s license and Commercial Driver’s License Class B with a school bus endorsement required
• You must meet specific physical, hearing, and vision requirements as outlined by the Mississippi Department of Education.This includes passing annual physical examinations required
• Be able to pass a background check required
• Successfully pass pre-employment drug testing and random drug and alcohol testing throughout employment required
• High School diploma or its equivalent required
