Job summary

Camden County Technical Schools Gloucester Township or Pennsauk en Campus is hiring Bus Driver(s) for a full-time, 10-month schedule. Immediate start, with a noon- or summer-hour program option.

The role requires a valid CDL with school bus endorsement, at least 3 years driving experience, and the ability to manage student safety and discipline. Competitive hourly pay and health benefits are provided.

Qualifications

• Valid Class B CDL with school bus and passenger endorsement.
• Minimum of three years previous safe driving experience (no tickets/violations except parking).
• Sufficient mechanical aptitude to diagnose minor problems.
• Ability to maintain passenger discipline for safety and well-being.
• Must successfully undergo a criminal history check and prove U.S. citizenship or legal status.
• Meets health requirements for personnel.
• Meets NJ residency requirements or willing to relocate to NJ within 365 days.
• Must follow Camden County Policy 0142.1.

Responsibilities

• Conduct pre-trip safety inspections of the bus and complete inspection reports.
• Notify maintenance of mechanical malfunctions or safety hazards.
• Notify authorities in case of mechanical failure or lateness.
• Adhere to routes, stops, and time schedules.
• Transport only authorized pupils.
• Enforce school bus safety regulations and passenger discipline.
• Use bus emergency equipment per district guidelines and laws.
• Prohibit smoking and eating on the bus.
• Report violations or vandalism to the principal or designee.
• Report accidents and pupil injuries and complete required reports.
• Participate in emergency evacuation drills and teach safety rules.
• Perform interior cleaning and exterior wash as needed.
• Perform other duties assigned by the director of athletics and student activities.

POSITION DESCRIPTION

TITLE: BUS DRIVER(S) -FULL-TIME SCHEDULE

GLOUCESTER TOWNSHIP AND PENNSAUKEN CAMPUSES

Deadline: This position will be filled in no less than ten (10) days after the date of this posting.

Position: This is a position for Full-Time Schedule of Hours and is a 10-month position.

Summer Hours are available for summer programs.

Salary: $31 per hour for driving. Agreement between Camden County Technical Schools and Teamsters Local Union 929.

POSITION GOALS:To transport pupils in a safe and efficient manner and perform all activities related to the operation of the school bus.

REPORTS TO: Director of Athletics and Student Activities

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Conduct a pre-trip safety inspection of the bus prior to every trip and complete the related written bus inspection report(s).
• Notify designated maintenance personnel of any mechanical malfunctions and/or safety hazards.
• Notify the proper authority in the event of mechanical failure or lateness.
• Adhere to established routes, designated bus stops and keep to assigned time schedules.
• Transport only authorized pupils.
• Obey all traffic laws and observe mandatory school bus safety regulations.
• Use bus emergency equipment, including cellular phones, according to district guidelines and state laws.
• Enforce regulations against smoking and eating on the bus.
• Maintain discipline on the bus and report violations and/or vandalism to the principal or designee.
• Report all accidents and pupil injuries; complete required reports.
• Participate in emergency evacuation drills in accordance with board policy and instruct passengers regarding safety regulations and other bus rules.
• Perform required interior bus cleaning duties following each trip and clean windows and exterior as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the director of athletics and student activities or designee.
