Job summary

Queen of Peace Catholic Academy seeks a CDL driver with Passenger (P) and School Bus Endorsements (S) to transport students to and from school and events. Under supervision, you will ensure safe operations, perform routine bus inspections, and uphold school and Church standards.

Requirements include a valid CDL with P and S endorsements, excellent communication, and the ability to work with children. A background check and Protecting God’s Children training are required before employment.

Job description

Location: Queen of Peace Catholic Academy

Position: CDL with Passenger (P) and School Bus Endorsements (S) Driver

Primary Function

Under the direction of the School Principal, or other assigned manager, is responsible for providing bus driver duties for Queen of Peace Catholic Academy. This includes primarily transportation of students to school and to events, but can include other personnel.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Support the Church’s and school’s spiritual and pastoral mission
• Shall abide by Catholic principles in the employee’s professional and private life, and shall govern his/her professional and private life in strict accordance with Catholic morals and principles to demonstrate complete adherence to Catholic moral strictures
• Comply with safety regulations as required; maintain a safe working environment.
• Ensure Pre-and Post-trip vehicle safety inspection are conducted.
• A willingness and ability to work with children of all ages.
• Drive bus/van on assigned route; recommend extension of routes or changes in schedule to provide safe service to children.
• Provide transportation of students and others in a safe manner.
• Inspects bus fluids and mechanical functions and reports maintenance required
• Fuels bus when needed.
• Instruct students and others on bus safety and discipline.
• Refer parent complaints or discipline problems to School Administration.
• Maintain a clean and working vehicle.
• Maintain daily log of bus inspection.
• Maintain a daily log of student riders
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Basic Qualifications

• Must have a CDL with Passenger (P) and School Bus Endorsements (S) license
• Excellent communications skills including written and verbal
• Excellent human relations and interpersonal skills; must be a self-starter and be well-organized; must be a team player
• Physical/Mental Requirements: Requires coordination and manual dexterity; normal mental and visual ability; ability to lift as required in a normal transportation environment
