Join Omaha Public Schools as a Bus Driver (Part-Time) for the 2025-2026 School Year. The starting rate is $24.65 per hour.

Job Details

• Location: Student Transportation Center
• Reports To: Director, Student Transportation
• Work Schedule: 178 Duty Days, split shifts required
• Salary: Part-time position with a starting rate of $24.65/hour

Responsibilities

• Safely operate school vehicles under various weather conditions
• Transport students and authorized persons over designated routes, field trips, and special trips
• Assist students with special needs, including wheelchair-bound students
• Conduct bus practice drills and emergency evacuations
• Service, inspect, and clean vehicles and related equipment
• Complete daily pre-trip inspections and required documentation

Qualifications

• Minimum 21 years of age
• High school diploma or G.E.D.
• Valid driver’s license with at least 3 years of driving experience and a safe driving record
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly
• Completion of Student Transportation Bus Driver Training Program, including NE DMV CDL, School Bus Driver’s permit, and First Aid/CPR
• Meet OPS insurability requirements

Additional Requirements

• Ability to work split shifts in the morning and afternoon
• Willingness to work in various physical positions (e.g., stooping, kneeling, reaching)
• Respond effectively in emergency situations
• Maintain professional appearance and punctuality

Employment Terms

This is a classified, part-time, non-exempt position governed by Nebraska laws and district policies. Employment is contingent upon background checks, verification of licenses and eligibility to work, and medical examinations.
