Job Description

The Newington Public Schools is seeking highly motivated and friendly individuals to transport our students to and from school and various school-sponsored events.

• Individuals who are interested and need to train to get a CDL with the P (passenger) & S (school bus) endorsements will be compensated for their time in training at minimum wage (currently $16.94/hr) after obtaining their Commercial Learner's Permit (CPL). The duration of training can vary, but is typically between two – eight hours per week for approximately six – ten weeks (not to exceed 70 hours).
• Eligible applicants must have a strong interest in driving, a clean driving record/history, put safety first, enjoy being around children and have a warm, friendly and compassionate personality.
• Drivers in Training are expected to work a minimum of one school year with the Newington Public Schools upon successful attainment of their bus driver license issued by the State of Connecticut.
