• Recommended one year of bus driver experience
• Knowledge of commercial passenger vehicle rules and guidelines

Responsibilities

• Drives bus safely according to YMCA policies and state laws
• Completes thorough before-and-after trip checks and records gas, mileage, and maintenance
• Cleans bus at the end of each day
• Promotes safety by stocking first aid supplies
• Communicates with staff and supervisor and follows all policies including safety and emergencies

Job description

Overview

The Bus Driver will provide safe transportation to and from program sites. The Bus Driver may also provide support in other areas as assigned.

Responsibilities

• Drives bus safely according to YMCA policies and procedures and state laws.
• Completes thorough before-and-after trip checks each day and record all information. Records gas levels, mileage, and maintenance on designated forms. Cleans out bus each day.
• Promotes safety at all time by keeping first aid supplies fully stocked.
• Ensures that bus rules are announced and followed. Communicates regularly with other staff members and supervisor.
• Follows YMCA policies and procedures, including those related to medical and disciplinary situations, child abuse prevention and emergencies.

Qualifications

• Must have CDL license in good standing if driving a bus larger than 15 passengers
• recommended one year work experience as a bus driver
• Possess appropriate class license.
• Knowledge of the rules/guidelines related to commercial passenger vehicles (bus)
• Desire and ability to work with children.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

• Ability to safely drive a bus for long periods of time.
• Ability to respond to emergency situations
• Visual and auditory ability to identify and respond to environmental and other hazards related to the activity.
