Job description

Nature and Scope:

Under the direction of the Afterschool Director, the Afterschool Bus Driver - CDL (Non-Degreed) provides safe transportation to and from program sites, maintaining a positive, respectful environment.

• Be at least 21 years old.
• Provide caring, positive leadership for youth.
• Recognize and implement safety standards during routes.
• Understand and demonstrate YMCA mission and values.
• Pass a criminal background check, drug screening, and driving record check.
• Possess a valid Commercial Driver License (CDL).
• Attend YMCA defensive Driving Course and staff training.
• Maintain CPR certification within 30 days of employment and ongoing.

Responsibilities:

• Own transportation to assigned location.
• Work hours between 2:00 p.m. and 6:30 p.m., M-F.
• Know rules related to commercial passenger vehicles.
• Lead children positively and recognize safety standards.
• Take attendance, coordinate supplies, and communicate with school staff.
• Assist in program planning per YMCA and licensing guidelines.
• Attend required trainings and consult on student development or behavior issues.
• Perform other related duties, maintain incident reports, and uphold safety protocols, including COVID-19 measures.

Additional Information:

Children and families will experience a high-quality program, with staff adhering to all rules and regulations. The program will remain compliant with Bright From The Start standards.

Ergonomics include bending, stooping, standing, lifting up to 40 pounds, and verbal communication.
