Job summary

Boaz City Board of Education seeks a Bus Driver (Anticipated) to ensure student safety on daily bus routes. The role requires Alabama CDL with endorsements for air brake, passenger, and school bus, along with state certification and thorough fingerprinting/background checks.

The position is 4 hours per day under a 9-month term, reporting to the Director of Transportation. Training and compliance with board policies are essential.

Qualifications

• Must have a high school diploma or GED.
• Alabama Commercial CDL with Air Brake, Passenger, and School Bus endorsements.
• Alabama State Certification Card and fingerprinting/background checks.
• Attend 12 hours of class and pass Pre-Trip, Skills, Road tests and drug test.

Responsibilities

• Perform pre-trip inspections.
• Conduct post-trip inspections.
• Maintain discipline and safe driving record on the bus.
• Follow all school board policies and reports to Transportation Supervisor.

Salary: Based on BCSS Salary Schedule

Expected Workday: 4 hours per day

Terms of Employment: 9-Month

Reports To: Director of Transportation

Job Goals:

• Maintains the safety of students on the bus

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or GED
• 1 years’ experience as a bus driver preferred
• Alabama Commercial CDL Driver’s License
• CDL With Endorsement for Air Brake, Passenger, and School Bus
• Alabama State Certification Card
• Attend 12 hours of class, Complete a Pre-Trip Inspection, Skills Test, Road Test, Drug Test
• Complete or have completed the fingerprinting and background check process
• Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable

Performance Responsibilities and Essential Functions:

• Pre-trip inspections
• Post trip bus inspections
• Maintain discipline on the bus
• Maintain safe driving record
• Performs related work as required
• Inspects busses as required by Federal, State, and Local regulations
• Files necessary reports and maintains files
• Follow all school board policies
• Other duties as may be assigned by transportation supervisor

Evaluation:

Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Boaz City Board of Education.
