Nature and Scope

Under the direction of the Afterschool Director, the Bus Driver provides safe transportation to and from program sites while maintaining a supportive, positive atmosphere that respects all individuals.

Minimum Requirements
  • Be at least 21 years old.
  • Provide caring and positive leadership for youth.
  • Recognize and implement safety standards during route.
  • Understand the mission and values of the Y and demonstrate them.
  • Pass criminal background check and drug screening.
  • Pass a driving record check.
  • Attend YMCA of Metro Atlanta defensive Driving Course.
  • Attend staff training.
  • Obtain CPR certification within 30 days of employment and maintain it.
Responsibilities
  • Have own transportation to the location.
  • Work between 2:00 p.m. and 6:30 p.m., M-F.
  • Know rules related to commercial passenger vehicles.
  • Provide leadership and recognize safety standards.
  • Pass background and drug tests.
  • Take daily attendance and coordinate supplies.
  • Communicate with school staff.
  • Assist in planning and implementing programs per licensing guidelines.
  • Attend required trainings.
  • Consult on student development or behavior concerns.
  • Perform other duties related to the program quality.
  • Maintain certifications and report incidents.
  • Follow policies, safety protocols, and create engaging activities.

Additional Information

Children and families will experience a high-quality program. Staff will supervise children and comply with all regulations. The position may require bending, standing, lifting up to 40 pounds, and communication skills.

The employment package includes benefits through the YMCA of Metropolitan Atlanta. Candidates must pass background checks, drug screening, and MVR checks. Employment is contingent on eligibility to work in the US.
