Job Responsibilities

1. Safely drive bus/car/van to transport students to and from home, on field trips, and to healthcare or other facilities as needed.
2. Deliver students to their destinations in a safe and timely manner following established routes.
3. Obey all traffic signals and highway regulations governing school bus operation.
4. Report mechanical problems immediately to appropriate personnel.
5. Assist in behavior management of students; complete behavior reports when necessary.
6. Ensure students are picked up by authorized parties and supervised at all times.
7. Report student issues and achievements to parents.
8. Ensure all luggage is properly delivered.

Minimum and Additional Requirements

1. Current and valid CDL, School Bus Certificate, and DOT Physical.
2. Acceptable 10-year driving history per State Fleet Management and S.C. Department of Education-Transportation guidelines.
3. Experience in operation or maintenance of motorized vehicles.
4. Maintain a valid S.C. CDL with proper endorsements and current D.O.T. Health Card.
5. Good driving record with no more than 4 points for violations.
6. Complete Defensive Driving Course (DDC) as per regulations.
7. Ability to work with clients who are deaf, blind, or multi-sensory disabled.
8. Overnight travel and weekend work may be required.
9. Communication modalities may vary based on employment placement.
