Job summary

This position requires a valid operator's license, successful medical exam, and positive references. The driver reports to the Assistant Superintendent or Director of Transportation; schedule covers 181 days per year.

Qualifications

• Must hold a valid operator's license.

• High School Diploma or GED (or demonstrated progress toward) as required by Kentucky law.

Responsibilities

• Obeys all traffic laws.
• Observes all mandatory safety regulations for school buses.
• Maintains discipline when students are on bus.
• Reports undisciplined students to the proper authority.
• Keeps assigned bus clean.
• Keeps to assigned schedule.
• Checks bus before each operation for mechanical defects.
• Fuels bus.
• Notifies the proper authority in case of mechanical failure or lateness.
• Discharges students only at authorized stops.
• Exercises responsible leadership when out-of-district school trips.
• Transports only authorized students.
• Reports all accidents and completes required reports.
• Enforces regulations specified in Bus Drivers Manual as approved by the Board of Education.
• Performs other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Must be able to assist passengers when needed

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

• Days per fiscal year: 181 Days
• Salary Schedule: BUSD on Classified Position Index
• FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Performance of the position will be evaluated annually by an Assistant Superintendent, Executive Director, or designee
