Kent School District provides paid training for eligible bus driver candidates hired as Bus Driver Trainees. Bus Driver Trainees are hired as a temporary employee while completing the 4-week training to obtain a CDL Class B, passenger endorsement, airbrake qualification, and school bus endorsement. The temporary employee rate is $17.13 per hour, with a training maximum of 200 hours. Upon completion of training, the trainee may be offered a continuing position as a regular or substitute bus driver.
