Basic Function

Assure the safe transportation of pupils to and from school.

Performance Responsibilities

• Drive the specific route as assigned by the Director of Transportation.
• Adhere to the time schedule set by the Principal of the school served.
• Maintain safe discipline and report pupil misconduct to the school Principal.
• Report to the bus garage for any needed repairs.
• Perform routine maintenance and safety checks (walk around inspection) each morning and afternoon.
• Report all accidents to the proper authorities on the day of the accident.
• Keep a daily trip ticket showing miles driven and fuel usage.
• Clean the bus each day to maintain a clean and neat condition.
• Complete and return all paperwork requested by the transportation office on time.
• Inform the Director of Transportation of any route changes due to road conditions, number of students, or other factors that may affect the route.
• Complete a maintenance worksheet for the bus.
• Perform other related duties assigned by the Principal, Director of Transportation, or Superintendent.

Minimum Qualifications

• High School Diploma or G.E.D.
• Valid Kentucky Driver’s License.
• Ability to understand oral and written communications.
• Meet all Kentucky Revised Statutes and local board of education requirements for bus drivers.
• Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions associated with bus driving.

Licenses and Other Requirements
