About this opportunity:

Reporting to the Program Director, the Driver will use Salvation Army vehicles in order to transport passengers to and from Salvation Army activities.

Key responsibilities:

  • Provides transportation for children to and from afternoon activities.
  • Provides transportation for children to and from day camp and during day camp trips.
  • Provides transportation for groups for summer camp.
  • Drives carefully, observes and complies with all traffic signs, laws and road/weather conditions to ensure the safety of passengers.
  • Arrives at destination according to schedule or telephones ahead when severe delays occur.
  • Maintains control of passenger activities by prohibiting unsafe or non-Christian behavior.
  • Parks vehicle in a safe and clearly marked parking space.
  • Locks vehicle doors when vehicle is not in use.
  • Fuels vehicle in accordance with state gasoline regulations and The Salvation Army standards
  • Logs all mileage on standard forms; ensures the accuracy and completeness of the same.

What we are looking for in you:

  • High School Diploma or G.E.D. and,
  • Two years experience operating an automotive vehicle;
  • Valid State Drivers Licenses
  • CDL

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions: Work requires the ability to lift and carry and/or push/pull heavy (over 50lbs.) materials, supplies and equipment frequently. Heavy mobility duties are usually performed by combinations of standing, walking, climbing ladders or steps, bending, reaching or transporting merchandise on frequent change basis relieved by fewer periods of sitting or operating a vehicle..

The worker is subject to inside and outside environmental conditions with activities occurring inside and outside. Protection from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes. The worker is subject to extreme cold and heat with temperatures typically below 32° or above 100° for periods of more than one hour. Consideration should be given to the effect of other environmental conditions, such as wind and humidity. The worker is subject to noise; and there is enough noise to cause the worker to shout to be heard above ambient noise level. Work is subject to hazards. Work includes a variety of physical conditions, such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, electrical current, working on scaffolding and high places, exposure to high heat or exposure to chemicals.
