Job summary

Moorestown Township Public Schools seeks a Transport Supervisor to safely manage student transport operations. The role requires a valid NJ CDL with P/S endorsements, multiple years of driving experience, and strong English communication to follow directions and report emergencies.

The position offers an hourly rate of $25.00–$35.00 based on experience and certificates, with health benefits eligibility and standard district procedures.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED is required.
  • Valid NJ Class B CDL with P and S endorsements.
  • Minimum three years of safe driving experience.
  • Experience in student transportation or related field.
  • Must be able to read and speak English to follow directions and report issues.

Responsibilities

  • Transport students to and from school safely.
  • Operate the district transportation vehicle safely and efficiently.
  • Complete routes on time according to directions.
  • Collaborate with transportation staff and principals to resolve issues.
  • Complete required incident and conduct reports promptly.
  • Schedule and conduct bus evacuation drills.
  • Maintain communication with transportation office staff.
  • Daily bus cleaning and item recovery tasks.
  • Maintain seating charts and access district systems.

Salary Range based on experience and certificates

$ 25.00- $ 35.00 per hour

Qualifications
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • Must possess a valid NJ Class B Commercial Driving License (CDL) with P and S endorsements.
  • Minimum of three years previous safe driving experience.
  • Experience in student transportation or a related field.
  • The ability to understand Spoken and written English on the job will be needed to follow directions and report issues/respond to emergencies, etc.
  • Must submit to, and pass, a CDL drug test.
  • Must submit to Criminal history background check (fingerprinting) and proof of US citizenship or legal resident alien status and S414.
  • Driving record must be in good standing with the Motor Vehicle Commission.
  • Have the ability to maintain passenger discipline to ensure safety of passengers.
  • Have the ability to lift at least 50 pounds.
  • Abide by Federal and State laws and regulations pertaining to student transportation.
  • Pass a State mandated Mantua (TBD) test initiated by the district.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Transport students to and from school in a safe manner.
  • Safely and efficiently operate the district school transportation vehicle.
  • Complete routes according to route directions in a timely manner both to and from the appropriate schools
  • Work cooperatively with transportation personnel as well as building principals to resolve transportation issues.
  • Complete necessary forms in a timely manner, including but not limited to,Accident Reports, Incident Reports and Conduct Reports.
  • Schedule and perform school bus evacuation drills.
  • Maintain constant communication with transportation office staff to resolve route, timing and students discipline issues.
  • Clean the bus daily (sweep floor, empty trash, wash windows when dirty, remove or return items left behind, etc.)
  • Check every seat for lost items or sleeping students after every school.
  • Ensure seat belts are up at the end of the day.
  • Keys must be returned after morning runs and afternoon runs.
  • Prepare and maintain student seating charts for each school.
  • Must be able to access district email and district absence management systems.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned by the Transportation Supervisor.
Technology Skills

Proficient in software applications related to role, including but not limited to Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Google Suite, Frontline, and Genesis Student InformationSystem. Ability to conduct meetings synchronously and asynchronously.

Physical demands include the ability to remain in a stationary position when necessary, occasionally move throughout the building to access colleagues and/or supplies. Ability to operate a computer and/or other office machinery. Must be able to securely file confidential documents. Ability to communicate verbally, and in writing via technology devices or handwritten correspondence.
