The Bus Driver is a key member of the transportation team, responsible for the safe, efficient, and timely transportation of students to and from school, extracurricular activities, and special events. This role requires a high level of attention to safety, patience, and strong interpersonal skills to foster a secure and respectful environment for all passengers. In this position, the Bus Driver will have the responsibility of a designated bus route in the morning and afternoon on school days, following the school calendar.
As the first and last point of contact many students have with the school each day, the Bus Driver serves as an ambassador of the district, setting a positive tone and reinforcing values of responsibility and respect. Drivers are expected to exercise sound judgment, remain calm under pressure, and respond appropriately to weather conditions, traffic, and emergencies.
The ideal candidate is dependable, safety-minded, and committed to building rapport with students, families, and school personnel. School Bus Drivers must adhere strictly to all Vermont Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) and Department of Education transportation regulations, district policies, and school schedules. They must also demonstrate a commitment to professionalism and continuous improvement through ongoing training and certifications.
