Position Summary

Operate school bus and other vehicles for the purpose of transporting students and staff to and from designated locations while providing professional and safe services.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Commercial Driver's License with a clean driving record and no at-fault accidents or traffic citations within the last five years.
• Must be at least 21 years old.
• Current CPR and First Aid Certification.
• Two or more years of experience working with children (preferred).
• Bilingual speaker (Spanish) preferred but not required.
• Ability to analyze issues, identify options, and implement solutions.
• Strong communication skills and ability to interact effectively with children, families, management, and staff.
• Works well with others and maintains positive effective communication with school personnel.
• Ability to sit 75%, walk/stand 25% during shift, and lift up to 50 lbs.
• Functional senses/manual dexterity to carry out job duties and communicate effectively.
• Ability to manage emergency/critical situations and multiple tasks, react quickly, and adapt body movements to keep pace with moving objects.

Essential Job Functions/Duties

• Provide transportation in accordance with academy policy, procedure and applicable laws and regulations.
• Follow designated routes accurately, adhering to time schedules and stops.
• Conduct safe and orderly loading and unloading of students.
• Maintain order and discipline on the school bus at all times.
• Perform routine operator maintenance: pre/post inspections, sweeping interior, wiping upholstery, cleaning windshields, and reporting equipment defects.
• Operate a school bus or other district vehicles safely at all times, including during inclement weather.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Environmental Conditions

Exposure to infectious or communicable diseases, occasional exposure to loud or unpleasant voices due to unpredictable behavior.

Physical and Mental Requirements

Must have ability to sit 75%, walk/stand 25% throughout shift, lift up to 50 lbs., and possess functional senses/manual dexterity for communication and job tasks. Must manage stress of emergency situations, react quickly, and adapt movements to keep pace with changing conditions.
