Role: School Bus Driver
Summary: Under the supervision of the Director of Transportation, ensure the safe transportation of students, staff, and others to and from school, residential neighborhoods, and field trips.
Salary Schedule: Based on route(s) and paid on a per day scale.
Qualifications:
- Motor Vehicle Operator's (DMV) License.
- Current Commercial Driver's License (CDL), class B with Passenger and School Bus endorsement.
- Up-to-date DOT Physical within one year.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Safely operate a school bus on designated routes according to schedule, loading and unloading students at specified locations.
- Transport students, teachers, and others on field or activity trips.
- Inspect the bus daily to ensure it is in good, clean, and safe condition.
- Refuel and clean the bus as needed.
- Ensure communication devices are functional before trips.
- Report mechanical issues, traffic violations, or accidents promptly.
- Coordinate routine maintenance and transport buses for repairs.
- Maintain order and discipline among students, adhering to district policies.
- Monitor route timing and maintain records for efficiency analysis.
- Ensure no child is left unattended on the bus and all children have disembarked at route end.
- Inventory and report needs for emergency and first aid supplies.
- Participate in bus drills and emergency procedures.
- Attend training and professional development sessions.
Additional Duties:
- Perform other related tasks as assigned.
Equipment and Travel:
- Use standard automotive and bus equipment, and communication devices.
- Travel to district buildings, service stations, and trip locations as needed.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Knowledge of traffic laws, road signs, and regulations.
- Manual dexterity and physical ability to operate and inspect the bus.
- Good visual and auditory acuity.
- Effective communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to follow procedures and maintain composure in emergencies.
- Ability to establish cooperative relationships.

- Work in a standard school bus environment.
