Job Description

Job Title: Bus Driver

Reports To: Director of Transportation

Contracted Days: 178

Job Summary: Provides safe and efficient transportation to and from school for students according to established routes and within established times and guidelines; provides safe transportation for students on extra-curricular or other non-route trips.

Essential Duties

1. Performs and completes daily pre-trip inspections.
2. Defensively drives specific routes transporting students to and from school in a timely manner. Addresses behavior problems when necessary.
3. Maintains open communication with parents.
4. Uses chain-of-command to report major disciplinary problems.
5. Inspects bus for damage at end of each run. Sweeps bus and leaves it clean.
6. Completes paperwork such as student count, record of mileage, accident reports, maintenance requests.
7. Attends safety meetings, in-service training, and workshops.
8. Attends orientation meeting.
9. Washes bus.
10. Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Must possess a valid Arkansas Class B CDL with P and S endorsements.

Physical Demands

The physical demands include sitting, using hands, talking, hearing, reaching, standing, walking, climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, tasting, and smelling. Must be able to lift up to 100 pounds occasionally and 50 pounds frequently. Vision abilities required include close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception, and focus adjustment.

Work Environment

Work near moving mechanical parts; noise level is usually loud. Reasonable accommodations can be made for individuals with disabilities.
