Description

Summary:
The Bus Driver is responsible for the safe transportation of park district patrons between facilities, to special events, or to trip destinations. Hours are flexible and usually under 20 per week.

Supervisor:
The Program Instructor reports to the Recreation Coordinator, Recreation Supervisor, Assistant Superintendent of Recreation, Superintendent of Recreation, and the Executive Director.

Qualifications:
The Bus Driver must be at least 18 years old, possess a valid CDL with passenger endorsement, have a clean driving record, and current CPR and First Aid certifications. The candidate should have good communication skills, customer service orientation, and schedule flexibility.

Essential Functions:

1. Implement park operations procedures according to District policy.
2. Communicate operation specifics and important matters to supervisors in a timely manner.
3. Complete assigned projects and tasks promptly.
4. Assist with scheduled program events.
5. Collaborate effectively with District staff and perform team responsibilities.
6. Implement and recommend customer service procedures.
7. Purchase fuel and supplies following District policies.
8. Stand or sit for extended periods as required.
9. Operate District vehicles and mechanized machinery with a valid Illinois Driver’s license; maintain CPR and First Aid certifications.
10. Administer First Aid per District policies.
11. Follow safety procedures, complete accident reports, and report hazards and incidents promptly.

Marginal Functions:

1. Attend trainings and meetings as directed.
2. Assist other employees as needed.

Physical Requirements:

1. Operate District vehicles.
2. Handle materials up to 50 pounds with assistance.

Cognitive Considerations:

1. Resolve patron issues and collaborate with employees.
2. Exhibit good judgment and problem-solving skills aligned with the District’s mission.
3. May be exposed to outdoor elements during outdoor functions; indoor activities are generally in controlled environments.
