Job summary

Southeast Delco School District - Bus Depot in Folcroft, PA - is seeking a part-time Bus Driver to provide safe transportation for district students. This position reports to the Transportation Director and requires a valid PA CDL with P & S endorsements. Starting pay is $27.41/hour with a 90-day probation period, after which pay increases to $27.91/hour.

External applicants only. Duties include pre-trip inspections, routing, student management, and routine maintenance checks.

Qualifications

• Must have valid Pennsylvania CDL Driver's License with Passenger (P) and Student (S) endorsements and air brake restriction lifted.
• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• Driving record free of tickets and accidents.
• Willing to train PA CDL holder for (S) and (P) endorsements and air brake restrictions.

Responsibilities

• Operate school bus safely and follow routes.
• Inspect bus per Pennsylvania requirements and report irregularities.
• Maintain student discipline and bus routing schedule.
• Safely operate all bus equipment and read gauges.
• Attend in-service and department meetings.
• Perform other duties as assigned by Transportation Director.

This is a part-time position. External applicants ONLY.

Reports to: Transportation Director

Job Summary:

Provide safe transportation for district students to and from various destinations.

Qualifications:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactory. The requirements listed below are representative of the duties, responsibilities, knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. The Southeast Delco School District will adhere to all applicable laws and regulations in assessing an employee's ability to carry out or otherwise meet the job requirements set forth herein in a satisfactory manner.

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Operate vehicle responsibly at all times.


• Complete inspection of the school bus as prescribed by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania including clearing obstructions and wiping lenses of lights. Reports all irregularities to the yard person.


• Maintain student discipline on the bus according to school bus rules. Reports infractions to the Building Principal and the Director of Transportation.


• Maintain school bus routing schedule.


• Safely operate all equipment provided within a school bus, including all doors, windows, emergency equipment, radios, read and understand gauge indicators, operate standard shift and automatic transmissions, exc.


• Attend in-service workshops and other department meetings scheduled by the Director of Transportation.


• Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Transportation.

• Ability to work in an external environment subject to temperatures below 32 degrees or above 100 degrees


• May be exposed to atmospheric conditions that include fumes and dust

Education & Experience:

• You MUST have a valid Pennsylvania CDL Driver's License with Passenger (P) and Student (S) endorsement with air break restriction lifted. Willing to train a PA CDL Driver's License holder for (S) and (P) endorsement and air break restriction lifted.


• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.


• Driving record must be free of tickets and accidents.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to reach above and below the waist


• Ability to use fingers to pick, feel and grasp objects


• Ability to use both hands for repetitive motion


• Ability to bend, twist, kneel, stoop, climb, and crawl


• Ability to lift/carry supplies weighing 50 lbs. or more


• Ability to drive up to eighty percent (80%) of workday

Level of Compensation:

This position's salary is determined by the collective bargainingplan forSupport Staff employees. The starting salary for this position is $27.41/hour. After the completion of the 90-day probationary period, this position is eligible for a raise to bring the salary to $27.91/hour.
