Qualifications

  • Must be at least 21 years old.
  • CPR/First Aid required.
  • Valid Driver’s License with a clean driving record.
  • Chauffer’s License must be maintained.

  • Familiarity with basic computer applications (MS Word, Excel, Publisher, Outlook).

Responsibilities

  • Conduct pre trip and post trip inspections (brakes, tires, lights, doors).
  • Report any mechanical, maintenance, safety or operational concerns to the Director and complete required documentation.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly bus interior.
  • Operate bus on designated routes and maintain schedules.
  • Supervise and ensure the safety and wellbeing of children in Driver’s care at all times.
  • Assist children with boarding, exiting, and mobility devices.
  • Ensure all passengers are properly seated and secured according to safety requirements.
  • Follow all traffic laws, safety rules, and DOT regulations.
  • Maintain good communication with children and parents/guardians.
  • Be familiar with Parent Handbooks and Employee Policy Handbook.
  • Be available to drive before and after school as well as on occasional field trips.
  • Demonstrate leadership behaviors aligned with Greater Midland’s Values.

Job description

Reporting to the Director of Early Childhood Education, the Bus Driver is required to safely transport children in our GSRP Preschool program along assigned routes both before and after school. The Bus Driver must perform safety inspections to ensure vehicle readiness prior to driving. On occasion, the Bus Driver will be required to take children on assigned field trips. The Bus Driver must follow all traffic laws and maintain licensing requirements for the State of Michigan and the Family Center at all times. The Bus Driver is expected to model servant leadership, uphold Greater Midland’s Purpose and Values, and foster a culture of excellence and integrity throughout the organization.

Coleman Family Center is an operating unit of Greater Midland Community Center, Inc. Coleman Family Center is located at 4839 N Coleman Schools Dr, Coleman, MI 48618. Regular communication and contact with staff, parents and children. Various hours may include early mornings, late evenings and weekends. Must have reliable transportation to bus garage. Sitting, bending and stooping to assist children is required.

Hours are Monday - Thursday
6:30am-8:30pm / 2:30pm-4:00pm
