Brecksville-Broadview Heights District Transportation in Broadview Heights, OH, is seeking a Bus Driver for a Monday–Friday schedule. The district will train candidates with a CDL preferred and offers a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, vision and life insurance.

Starting salary is $27.40–$28.17 per hour. Requires high school diploma or GED; Ohio CDL with school bus endorsement preferred. Apply by submitting to the Transportation department.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Commercial Driver’s License with School Bus Endorsement preferred.
• State DOE Bus Driver Education program preferred.
• Must be insurable.
• District may find other qualifications acceptable.

Responsibilities

• Operate transportation services Monday through Friday.
• Ensure safe loading and unloading of students.
• Maintain safety and discipline on bus and report issues.
• Follow district policies and Ohio traffic regulations.

A Commercial Driver’s License is preferred but not required, as the District will train the selected candidates.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or general education degree (GED)
• State of Ohio Commercial Driver's License with School Bus Endorsement (preferred)
• State Department of Education Basic School Bus Driver Education Program (preferred)
• Must be insurable
• Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent and Board may find appropriate.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Ability to work effectively with others
• Ability to communicate ideas and directives clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing
• Practical, active listening skills
• Organizational and problem-solving skills
• Basic first-aid procedures
• Knowledge of relevant Ohio laws and regulations
• Knowledge of traffic laws
• Ability to listen for mechanical defects, view the engine compartment for defects, and distinguish the color of lights
• Ability to read and understand verbal and written instructions, written warnings, and labels
• Ability to handle emergencies
• Ability to interpret gauges and dipsticks for oil and transmission
