Bus Driver

Founded by Detroit philanthropists George and Ellen Booth in 1904, Cranbrook Educational Community is one of the world's leading centers of education, science, and art. Located in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, about 20 miles north of downtown Detroit, Cranbrook comprises a graduate Academy of Art, a contemporary Art Museum, Center for Collections and Research, House and Gardens, Institute of Science, and serves over 1,600 students from Pre-K through 12. The campus attracts thousands of visitors annually and is designated a National Historic Landmark.

This opportunity is for a Bus Driver position responsible for daily campus shuttles and field trips for student classes and athletic teams.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

1. Driving a Cranbrook school bus, loading and unloading passengers at designated stops.
2. Shuttling students around campus and transporting athletic teams to various locations for contests, including evening trips.
3. Ensuring the safety and security of the vehicle and passengers.
4. Performing routine vehicle inspections and preventative maintenance.
5. Preparing and maintaining records related to bus operations.

Requirements:

1. Valid Michigan driver's license with a satisfactory driving record.
2. Experience in transporting passengers.
3. Training and experience demonstrating the ability to perform the duties of the position.
4. Possession of a valid Michigan CDL with B, P, S endorsements and ability to acquire a Michigan Department of Education bus driver card within three months of hire.
5. Ability to obtain a medical examiner's certificate.
6. Compliance with federally mandated drug and alcohol screening.
7. Proficiency in speaking, understanding, and writing English.
8. Basic knowledge of bus driver functions and traffic laws.

This is a part-time position working approximately 30 hours per week during the school year, with opportunities for summer driving. The current schedule is Monday to Friday, 10:30 am to 4:30 pm, with occasional weekend work. Pay rate is $23.86 per hour, including a license stipend.
