Job summary

YMCA of Upper Palmetto is seeking a responsible Bus Driver to ensure safe transportation of participants. Under the supervision of the Childcare Director, you will operate vehicles while adhering to all safety regulations and guidelines.

Candidates must be 18 or older and possess a valid South Carolina Driver’s license or CDL. Strong communication skills and a positive attitude towards YMCA's mission are essential.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age to drive Mini bus or 21 years or older to drive a bus.
• Compatible with the vehicle they will be operating.
• Ability to communicate with people of all levels.

Responsibilities

• Operate vehicles in a safe and courteous manner.
• Complete pre-trip inspection form prior to each trip.
• Notify supervisor of any breakdowns or repairs needed.

Job description

POSITION SUMMARY

Under the supervision of the Childcare Director, Branch Director or COO and consistent with the Christian mission of the YMCA. The Bus Driver is responsible for providing safe operations of the bus following YMCA transportation and vehicle guidelines. The Bus Driver may assist with various activities such as special events, and other activities that occur on various occasions.

• Operate Vehicles in a safe and courteous manner.
• Operate vehicles in a manner abiding by all vehicle and traffic laws.
• Vehicles will be operated by authorized personnel only.
• Vehicles will operate with the number of passengers not exceeding the number as specified by the manufacturer.
• Bus Drivers will not use a cell phone, walkie talkie or any other device that may cause distractions while driving.
• Pre-trip inspection form must be completed prior to each trip
• Will operate vehicle with not less than ½ tank of fuel.
• Report accidents following the Upper Palmetto Transportation guidelines and procedures.
• Notify transportation or proper supervisor of any breakdowns or repairs that need to be made to bus.
• Report any moving or driving violations issued by Law Enforcement to your supervisor immediately.

• Must hold a valid South Carolina issued License or CDL license.
• Compatible with the vehicle they will be operating.
• Must Submit Copy of South Carolina Driver’s license; DMV Medical Certificate (bus driver).
• Ability to communicate with people of all levels.
• Have a positive attitude and desire to achieve the mission of the Upper Palmetto YMCA.
• Carrying, sitting, seeing, hearing, speaking, running, crouching, lifting (25 Lbs.), and walking.
