Job summary

Boys & Girls Clubs of Central New Mexico is seeking a dependable, safety-focused Bus Driver to transport Club members to and from schools, Club locations, educational field trips, and community activities.

The ideal candidate maintains high safety standards, completes inspections, and keeps accurate logs while providing a positive experience for youth and staff. This is a part-time position with flexible scheduling.

Qualifications

• Must hold NM CDL with proper endorsement.
• Current School Bus Driver Certification or NM Bus Driver Certification.
• Current Medical Examiner's Certificate (DOT) or ability to obtain.
• Clean driving record.
• Ability to pass criminal background check and drug screening.
• CPR and First Aid certification preferred or willingness to obtain.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including mornings, afternoons, evenings, and weekends.

Responsibilities

• Safely transport youth to/from schools, clubs, field trips and events.
• Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections and report maintenance needs.
• Ensure passengers follow safety procedures entering/exiting and riding the bus.
• Maintain transportation logs and required documentation.
• Communicate with Club staff about schedules and routes.
• Keep buses clean, fueled, and ready for daily operation.
• Follow all laws and organizational policies.
• Respond to emergencies prioritizing passenger safety.
• Represent the organization professionally.

Position Summary

The Boys & Girls Clubs of Central New Mexico is seeking a dependable, safety-focused Bus Driver to transport Club members to and from schools, Club locations, educational field trips, and community activities. The ideal candidate is committed to providing a safe, positive, and welcoming environment for youth while maintaining the highest standards of professionalism and vehicle safety.

Essential Responsibilities

• Safely transport youth to and from schools, Club sites, field trips, and special events.
• Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections and report maintenance concerns promptly.
• Ensure all passengers follow safety procedures while entering, exiting, and riding the bus.
• Maintain accurate transportation logs and required documentation.
• Communicate effectively with Club staff regarding schedules, route changes, and transportation needs.
• Keep buses clean, fueled, and ready for daily operation.
• Follow all federal, state, and local transportation laws, as well as organizational policies.
• Respond appropriately in emergency situations while prioritizing the safety of passengers.
• Represent the Boys & Girls Clubs of Central New Mexico in a professional and courteous manner.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to safely operate a commercial passenger bus.
• Ability to assist passengers entering and exiting the vehicle when necessary.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally.
• Ability to sit for extended periods while maintaining focus and alertness.

• Valid New Mexico Driver's License with the appropriate Commercial Driver's License (CDL) endorsement.
• Current School Bus Driver Certification or equivalent New Mexico Bus Driver Certification is required.
• Current Medical Examiner's Certificate (DOT Physical), or ability to obtain before employment.
• Clean driving record.
• Ability to pass a criminal background check, drug screening, and any additional requirements necessary to transport youth.
• CPR and First Aid certification preferred, or willingness to obtain.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including mornings, afternoons, evenings, and occasional weekends as needed.
