Salary Scale: AFSCME UA2, Grade 6-7

Salary Scales Details

Education and Work Experience
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Five (5) years of successful work experience as a school bus attendant in Maryland preferred.
Qualifications
  • Ability to lift at least 40 pounds and perform physical tasks such as lifting students, climbing, and reaching in awkward positions.
  • Sufficient physical strength and stamina to assist students with disabilities on and off the bus.
  • Must submit to a criminal background check as per COMAR regulations.
Essential Job Functions
  • Assist students physically and complete training for supporting students with special needs.
  • Maintain order and report misbehavior.
  • Escort students on and off the bus, ensuring safety and proper restraint use.
  • Assist with bus evacuation procedures and drills.
  • Ensure cleanliness and proper functioning of bus equipment.
  • Treat students and others with respect and compassion.
  • Perform additional related duties as required.
Environmental and Physical Requirements

Must be able to stand, walk, kneel, crouch, and manipulate weights of 10-50 pounds. Good hand-eye coordination and visual acuity are required. The role involves sitting, reaching, talking, and hearing frequently.
